We have an excellent opportunity for a Commercial Relationship Manager to join the Marketing department of a government body in the heart of Leeds.

This role will see you own existing relationships with external commercial partners and secure new revenuestreams and opportunities.


With a primary focus on generating commercial revenue for the party's most iconic annual event; This role will also work with multiple internal bodies and departments to expand relationships into new sponsorship and partnership arenas.

The event in questionis the largest political gathering of its kind and therefore the successful applicant would gain unparalleled experience within the global MICE market.

This position will initially be employed on a 12-month fixed term contract with prospects longer term.

Key responsibilities

  • Drive revenue opportunities for key annual event
  • Sell advertising across digital and print channels
  • Manage client contracts and oversee invoicing and debt process for sales generated. Work with internal teams to ensure contractual arrangements are met
  • Delivery regular financial (sales) reports to senior management and contribute to the budgeting process
  • Maintenance of internal database with client data
  • Maintain relationships with top 25 PR and lobbying firms and venuelinked tourist organisations to promote the event and other opportunities
  • Line manage the teams Event Coordinator / Sales support
  • Work closely with event Delivery Manager to ensure seamless handoff between sales/contracting and delivery/implementation
  • Attend regular client meetings and present current and future business agendas

Key experience & attributes required:

  • Professional client relationship management experience
  • Exposure to driving commercial relationships and revenue opportunities with bluechip organisations
  • Understanding of event / conference / exhibitions and driving custom via these events
  • Detail orientated and deadline driven
  • Project management skill set
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present confidently
  • Experience in the MICE space advantageous
  • Able to embrace challenges with enthusiasm, initiative and creativity

Whilst this role has a sales focus, it's more heavily geared towards active client relationship management and repeat custom.
