We are currently recruiting for a
Hospital Assistant at our
Finsbury Park Animal Hospital to carry out nursing duties according to the standards and policies laid down by the RSPCA and RCVS, contributing to
high quality animal care and
building good staff relationships.
excellent rail and bus connections. Our expert team provide
life saving veterinary care to thousands of animals rescued by RSPCA frontline officers. They also provide
vital support to rescued animals being cared for at RSPCA centres.
The hospital works directly to help animals most in need by
supporting the work of the RSPCA's Inspectors, animal centres and branches providing
essential veterinary care around the clock.
If you reside within M25 remit you will also qualify for London weighting payment of £3,800 per annum
What's involved
- Undertake nursing duties including theatre, ward, and euthanasia duties as directed
- Undertake general cleaning duties throughout the hospital including equipment, animal quarters and premises
- Maintain up to date and accurate clinical records for every animal that comes into the hospital. This includes completing a hospital sheet with names and details, records of health and occurrences of medication.
- Dispense drugs in accordance with professional guidelines and hospital rules
- Monitor and restock consulting rooms and surgeries as directed by the staff nurses
- Carry out telephone and general reception duties on a roster basis as required
- Take accurate payments from clients for veterinary services received at the time of consultation in line with RSPCA policy
- Ensure that all clients of the hospital receive accurate itemised bills at the time of treatment and keep full records of these
- Undertake any other duties as may be directed from time to time by the Hospital Director
- Undertake continuing professional and personal development associated with the role
- on a shift pattern including day, evening, weekends and nights.**What you'll have.
Essential
- GCSE Grade C or equivalent in Maths, English, and a Science, or Key Skills level
- Previous experience of animal care work
- Self motivated to work independently without constant supervision for routine tasks.
- Ability to work a variety of shifts and hours
Desirable
- NVQ Level 2 in Animal Care or equivalent
- Understanding of animal welfare issues
- Desire to train to become a Veterinary Nurse.
