We're currently looking for an Authorisation Officer on a full time, 6 month fixed term basis.


The position sits within the Practice Regulation Directorate and the Governance Executive Directorate and plays a vital part in ensuring ACCA's statutory recognition for audit is maintained, supporting ACCA's strategic delivery plan of achieving and promoting the highest professional, ethical and governance standards.


The Authorisation team are responsible for administering ACCA's regulatory arrangements for the issue of practising certificates and licenses to members undertaking public practice work.

The Authorisation team work closely with the rest of Governance and ACCA to ensure compliance with ACCA's lead regulators to uphold standards.


The job:
Carry out daily business operations in order to meet individual targets and team objectives.

This includes but is not limited to:

  • Primarily responsible for undertaking assessment work, specifically to review member eligibility to hold a nonaudit practising certificate.
  • Assess practising certificate experience forms, ensuring members have completed the necessary requirements and the training records in line with ACCA procedures and policies.
  • Ensure accurate processing of annual renewals of practising certificates with financial payments.
  • Demonstrate excellent technical knowledge of members in practice including; ACCA Rulebook, and practitioner information.
  • Liaise with ACCA offices and other internal teams and departments to deliver a quality service to stakeholders throughout the Authorisation process and contribute to ACCAwide projects.
  • Be an ambassador for ACCA, treating all internal and external customers with respect and always maintain professionalism.

The person:

  • Desirable to have a knowledge and understanding of Accountancy/ Accounting Practice.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers at all levels.
  • Highly organised, logical, and methodical approach to work with very strong analytical skills and with an emphasis on attention to detail.
  • Able to multitask and experience of dealing with a high workload and working to tight deadlines with competing priorities, whilst being able to remain calm under pressure.
  • I.T literate with fast and accurate data inputting skills and a sound knowledge of MS Office and ideally with experience of working with Oracle databases.
  • The ability to work as part of the wider team to achieve the objectives of the department.
  • Be receptive to working in a changing environment and with a flexible attitude to work
