We're building an amazing team and we're looking for ambitious and purpose driven Compliance Officer to join us in our Cardiff Office to provide first line assurance across the Tandem group to review and provide feedback on the effectiveness of the control environment.


Our team

Reporting to the First Line Controls & Assurance Manager, the First Line Controls & Assurance team will support the business to ensure that controls and assurance processes are consistent, up to date, effective and fully aligned with Tandem's Risk and Control framework, and any respective legal or regulatory requirements.


What you will be working on:

  • Assisting in the development and planning of the control assurance program.
  • Performing assurance reviews of first line controls, including proactive and riskdriven reviews in response to incidents, business, or regulatory changes to ensure quality outcomes for the business.
  • Identifying and recommending solutions to control improvements where risks and issues have been identified.
  • Overseeing the controls register and working with the business risk and control owners to ensure that all content is relevant, up to date and reviewed in a timely manner.
  • Working closely with the Risk and Compliance teams to ensure control assurance activities are tailored to business risks, and findings are communicated and transparent to stakeholders.
  • Contributing to refinement of the control assurance framework, identifying opportunities for improvement to achieve better risk, business, and customer outcomes.
  • Providing ongoing supervision in a first line capacity across Tandem's third party 'introducers' via annual fitness and propriety testing.

About You:


Essential:

  • Previous experience in a regulated financial services business (ideally FCA/PRA).
  • The desire to learn and understand industry best practices.
  • High levels of personal and professional integrity.
  • Very sound judgment and business instinct with a desire to challenge traditional thinking.
  • Excellent negotiation, influencing and collaborating skills.
  • Experience of developing relationships with stakeholders and building positive working relationships.

Desirable:

  • Experience in working with/implementing risk and control frameworks.
  • Experience in third party controls management and oversight.

Qualities we look for:

  • An investigative and analytical approach.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrable IT skills, including MS Excel proficiency.
  • Great interpersonal skills. You'll be developing relationships with stakeholders and building positive working relationships with a wide variety of people. A personable manner, teamworking and adaptability are all important.
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
  • Organisational skills. You will be required to work on multiple projects, meet deadlines and maintain a high level of accuracy.
