Mental Health Support and Liaison Worker

£23,625.00 pa (full time)

Hours: 37 hours per week - flexible working considered.

Fixed-term contract until end of March 2025

Hybrid role of community working in North and South Bucks including some home working.

Office space can be provided.

Buckinghamshire Mind is seeking a dedicated, compassionate and solution-focussed Mental Health Support and Liaison worker to bring about positive change for people sleeping rough or in temporary accommodation. Our rough sleep initiative assists people towards greater stability, both in having a place to live and with their mental health and wellbeing.

Buckinghamshire Mind is working together with Buckinghamshire County Council and partner organisations - Aylesbury Homeless Action Group, Connections, Oasis and Oxford Health on a Rough Sleeper Initiative.

The project delivers an enhanced support service for rough sleepers.


Buckinghamshire Mind was invited to join the partnership to provide personalised asset-based mental health support to rough sleepers and those in temporary accommodations to prevent mental health needs becoming a barrier to longer term housing solutions.


Purpose of role


Buckinghamshire Mind was invited to join the partnership to provide personalised asset-based mental health support to rough sleepers and those in temporary accommodations to prevent mental health needs becoming a barrier to longer term housing solutions.


Key Responsibilities:

- communicate appropriately and effectively with service users who may sometimes be in distress.
- coproduce and develop quality, relevant person-centred support/safety plans and risk assessments ensuring high levels of input and ownership from service users where possible.
- provide person-centred emotional support and practical assistance as required.
- ensure that all work is carried out in a non-judgemental manner, is needs/service user led, and that professional boundaries and confidentiality are maintained at all times.
- ensure that support plans and risk assessments are updated at planned review dates and as necessary.
- deliver therapeutic provision (e.g. counselling, intervention and signposting) as appropriate.
- plan detailed endings in consultation with all service users who no longer require support.
- demonstrate effective teamwork with other
_Rough Sleeper Initiative_ team colleagues.
- recognise, challenge and be responsive to stigma and discrimination of all kinds.
- represent Buckinghamshire Mind in a professional and appropriate manner always.
- work creatively, looking at new possibilities, bringing new ideas to the
_Rough Sleeper Initiative_ team and respond appropriately to the needs and views of both current and potential service users
- empower service users to be independent and motivated and assist them in reaching their full potential.
