This is a fixed term 10PA post for a Locum Consultant Dermatologist at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.


This is in response to the needs of the department in the last few years and the increasing demand on our services in the local area.

Our service covers a large area encompassing both East and West Berkshire and parts of Oxfordshire and Hampshire. We are lucky to work in very beautiful area of the country including Henley and West Berkshire.


We pride ourselves on being a very friendly department and look forward to expanding our department, services and physician workforce and it is now time to expand our consultant numbers.


The appointee will join the existing team to provide specialist care to this growing population of patients, and raise departmental profiles through teaching and education.


The aim of the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust Dermatology service is to become a leader in the field of dermatological management and the successful applicant must therefore have the pre-requisite procedural and leadership skills as well as team work, drive and ambition to succeed in achieving these goals.

To provide, with colleagues, Dermatology services in both in-patient and out-patient settings.


To contribute to on-call cover 9am-5pm for the Dermatology service and support advice and queries from the ward/ ambulatory care/ emergency dept and Dermatology Registrar when requested.

Active participation in monthly clinical governance & academic meetings within the department.

Participation and involvement in meetings and other business in the Dermatology service.


The post holders will be expected to participate fully in the teaching of pre-clinical & clinical undergraduate medical students from Oxford University.

They will also be expected to contribute to the programmes of F1/F2, Core Trainee and Specialist Registrar teaching.


The successful applicants will be expected to contribute to medical audit and clinical governance and clinical governance meetings take place on alternate months.
