Quality Control Inspector

Working at Laing O'Rourke's Centre of Excellence of Modern Construction (CEMC)


Day to Day duties include:


  • Responsible for inspecting and verifying the quality of products manufactured and where materials being used fail to meet the specified standard, report these immediately to the Quality Team Leader/Production Leader to enable corrective action to be implemented.
  • Responds to requests for inspection/approval in a timely manner and keeps records of work viewed / work ongoing using either QAR's and/or Fieldview.
  • Responsible for checking the works within the relevant area of responsibility for compliance with both product specifications and drawings.
  • Reports non conformance to responsible supervisor immediately and ensures regular reporting of progress and performance to line manager and others as instructed.
  • Ensure CAPA reports are raised for all Product Quality issues and corrective & preventive actions implemented in a timely manner.
  • Carries out regular reporting of progress and performance to line manager and others as instructed.

Experience Desired but not essential:


  • Some previous experience in a large, complex, multinational organisation.

Skills Required:


  • Proactive approach to health and safety and determination to achieve health and safety standards expected.
  • Numeric.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Good level of QA knowledge.
  • Effective communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and to build and maintain good working relationships.
  • Focused on meeting deadlines and the ability to prioritise workload.
  • Good presentation skills with the ability to tailor content dependant upon the audience
  • Business aware and customer focused.
  • Ability to read an engineering general arrangement and reinforcement drawings and reinforcement schedules.
  • Desire to develop skills in order to support in QCI capacity across all factory areas.
  • Minimum of 5 GCSE's (A-C), or equivalent.
  • Trade background with relevant production quality control experience.

Rates of pay dependant on progression/experience and training

£14.89-£14.90 per hour
