We are looking for a part time care assistant to support a lady in her own home in Jesmond.

We are trying to recruit for a visit of two hours from 5.30 to 7.30 in the early evening seven days a week.

This will probably be split between two carers depending on their schedule.

The visit will be to accompany her on a walk with her dog, helping her to take her medication and checking that she is able to prepare her evening meal.

There may be some elements of personal care including showering. There will also be some domestic tasks including cleaning, making the bed and assisting with laundry.

There are currently two other carers who support her seven days a week in the morning and so there will be times when cover is needed when they are away.

She visits her husband in a care home in Gosforth on some mornings but it would be helpful if she is able to visit sometimes in the evening.

This involves taking her to the care home and waiting nearby then taking her home again. Carers with their own car would be paid £5 per visit towards petrol.

About the role
This is a job with a difference, working directly for the family rather than a care agency. The lady is 91 and has a number of care requirements.

She is independent minded, creative and loves to spend time gardening. She suffers from Alzheimers and so gets confused. She has been suffering from dizzy spells and so has lost confidence in doing things on her own.

Her care is primarily managed by her daughter who lives nearby.

Own car would be helpful for visits to her husband in Gosforth £5 towards petrol per visit.
