Core duties include:

  • Manage & continually enhance the department's student extracurricular programme to create a sense of belonging and opportunities for students to succeed at King's Foundations.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to manage & deliver a programme of events & activities to support King's Foundations students transition to into King's, creating a sense of community and belonging and enhancing the students' experience.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders across the Faculties to design and deliver events & activities that support progression to King's UG and PG programmes, enhancing the students' continuation experience, providing key guidance and messaging through engaging communications & activities.
  • Build and engage a network of King's Foundation alumni who support the work of the department acting as student ambassadors at a wide range of events and activities for prospective & current students.


The role is primarily based at Bush House on the King's Strand Campus though you may be required to travel to other campuses on occasion.

King's Professional Services staff can work in a hybrid working pattern with working from home permitted for up to 40% of each week.

Changes to this pattern may occur and are determined by required output and departmental need.

This post will be offered on an indefinite contract.

This is a full-time post.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver a portfolio of student events and extracurricular opportunities for King's Foundations students to enhance their student experience at King's, including an annual programme of events & activities which engage and appeal to a wide range of students studying a variety of academic disciplines.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders within the Faculties to collaboratively provide bespoke support and experiences for students as they progress from King's Foundations to their chosen UG or PG programme at King's, creating opportunities to engage with their chosen department.
  • Work closely with the International Foundation Programmes (IFP) Team and Lead Tutors to support International Foundation students to transition successfully to their undergraduate programme, providing key guidance and messaging through engaging communications & activities.
  • Work closely with the Presessional Programmes Team to identify and deliver a suite of transition activities for Presessional students, to ensure they feel prepared and confident to continue onto their chosen UG or PG degree at King's.
  • Support the IFP & Presessional Teams, and the Senior Tutor to provide appropriate guidance and support to students who do not progress onto their chosen degree, signposting to the Faculty Welfare & Wellbeing Advisors when required.
  • Work closely with the King's Foundations Business Support team to ensure student data relating to progression and transition is produced accurately and is used to inform decisionmaking and strategic planning.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to the Student Experience Officer to ensure effective delivery of studentled initiatives, such as the Peer Assisted Learning scheme. Work together to develop and facilitate effective student networks to ensure there is a diverse range of activities to enrich the student experience.
  • Work closely with the Marketing Team to build and engage a network of King's Foundations alumni who support the work of the department acting as student ambassadors at a wide range of events and activities for prospective & current students.
  • Manage student communIcations in relation to extracurricular and progression activities, creating informative and engaging content using a multiplatform approach.
  • Support the Student Experience Manager in ensuring continual improvement of the experience for all students, through regular monitoring and evaluating of student experience activities.
  • Contribute to annual evaluation reports relating to student experience activities, working with the Student Experience Manager to set goals and objectives for the team.
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the department and the university, deputising for the Student Experience Manager in attending College meetings when required.
  • Maintain a broad overview of visa regulations in order to provide general information and advice to students, referring immigration queries to International Student Advice. Support the Programmes Team in ensuring there is adequate information and support for Tier4 students, in liaison with International Student Advice and Visa Compliance.
  • Support the Student Experience Manager in developing & implementing the departmental Student Experience strategy.
  • Working flexibly and collaboratively as part of a team, ensuring all work is carried out in a professional & timely manner with appropriate confidentially and sensitivity.
