What to expect
The category buyer responsible will work with internal JLR stakeholders and supplier representatives to implement and manage relevant contracts and to agree procurement strategies that deliver value for money and fit for purpose solutions.
There will be a mixture of tactical and strategic procurement activities, and one of the main tasks will be to develop and implement robust sourcing strategies, to support the advancement and maturation of the categories.
What you'll need
The Category buyer will share co-responsibility for management of the incumbent travel management company on a global level and the management of sourcing all travel services i.e.
As well as working in a support capacity in the employee training category in collaboration with the employee learning buyer.
As part of our category strategy, you will be responsible for delivery of strategic category plans, in line with annual scorecard targets and ensuring the SCP is kept up to date in line with market changes and strategy evolution, whilst taking accountability for ensuring analytics on suppliers, market and business requirements is available for their categories.
You will also lead weekly consultancy category boards aligning business needs with category strategy with an aim to support the delivery of our reimagine strategy.
You will be responsible for delivering sourcing in line with policy and procedure and to agreed targets, deploying a total cost of ownership and complete value achieving approach.
Contract management will play a pivotal role in this position, as you implement robust contract management across key commercial agreements, as well as the management of existing contracts, and development of more strategic/less tactical approaches.
Knowledge, skills & experience
Essential:
- Able to manage and execute complex projects on time and in budget.
- Previous experience as a Buyer in an Indirect Procurement function.
- A commercial understanding of terms and conditions and ability to negotiate them
