THE ROLE

This Tree Procurement Lead will have responsibility for leading on procurement activities such as sourcing, purchase contracts and orders, stock management as well as overseeing the delivery of trees for the Woodland Trust.

We have ambitious woodland creation, protection and restoration targets for which the provision of appropriate trees is vital.

This role will be pivotal in instituting an end to end process, overseeing growing contracts and responding to pipeline changes, and ensuring effective stock control and efficient distribution.

The post holder will fulfil a key role leading a team underpinning extant tree procurement processes and effecting the introduction of new systems to create a robust procurement and distribution mechanism.


Reporting into the Head of Tree Supply, this role requires ongoing management of third party relationships to ensure fulfilment of contracts.

This will require occasionally challenging negotiations on issues such as price, quality or other aspects of the Service Level Agreements.


This is a Hybrid working role, where you'll work part of your time at home and part of the time from our Head Office based in Grantham.

Our Hybrid Working Policy is flexible and the frequency of time spent in your contracted office will vary across teams and job roles.


THE CANDIDATE
You'll have experience in a procurement role with extensive knowledge of procurement systems.

You'll have an understanding of biosecurity and plant health issues relating to tree supply ideally with an understanding of UKISG Assurance and Plant Healthy.

You'll be able to develop and manage effective partnerships that deliver significant outcomes for the organisation.


You will have Inspirational leadership and line management experience, to deliver significant results, including the ability to provide clarity, inspire people, make decisions and grow a team.

You'll have excellent partnership building skills using your communication skills to nurture effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders in order to deliver on multiple projects.
