Job description


The Senior Campaigns Advisor role offers the opportunity to deliver first class communications and campaigns to influence public opinion, behaviour and help shape the perception of the MoJ's work with key audiences.

Ideal for a dynamic and creative communicator, you will help areas of the business define their objectives, understand their audiences, create content for external channels and evaluate the impact and success of their communications.


The role is ideal for a dynamic and creative communicator who has experience in developing, delivering and implementing campaigns and is passionate about delivering first class communications and confident working in a fast-paced environment.


Key responsibilities

  • Project manage and oversee delivery of the MoJ's priority campaigns including those that support victims of sexual violence helping them to seek support.
  • Work with other team members to develop, deliver and evaluate campaigns against clear objectives, outcomes and timeframes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues inside and outside the Directorate, government departments and external organisations, to ensure the best results for the department; including building relationships with stakeholders to deliver campaign objectives.
  • Successfully deliver campaign messages across multiple platforms and channels working with stakeholders, partners and government. This may also include proactive PR, both selling in positive campaign stories and liaising with journalists in consumer, national and regional print and broadcast titles.
  • Lead on the development of excellent written content for external communications channels in support of campaigns and communications activity.
  • Develop strong sector knowledge and a good understanding of the business priorities for different policy areas, helping to anticipate and identify conflicting priorities and flagging risks by working closely with policy teams.
  • Briefing and advising staff at all levels on communications and campaigns, including Ministers, frontline staff and senior policy colleagues.
  • Potential line management of a Band C (IO) Campaigns Advisor to help you deliver on the above.

Skills, experience and attributes

  • Effective and persuasive communicator with previous experience leading communications programmes and campaigns, including campaign evaluation.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Creativity and keenness to develop and deliver innovative, low and no cost external communication campaigns, using digital, owned, earned and offline channels.
  • Customerorientated with a focus on delivering a great professional service and confident working with senior colleagues.
  • Ability to understand complex and technical policy issues and translate these for different external audiences using multiple channels; reacting quickly to unexpected developments.
  • The ability to use all available sources of insight to develop audience focussed campaigns.
  • The ability to spot and manage risks, including experience of working with the media to deliver positive editorial coverage, which supports communications objectives.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills with experience in line managing and motivating employees to work in a fastpaced environment.
  • An enthusiastic teamplayer with a proactive attitude and the ability to work with internal colleagues and partners in a collaborative way.

Salary:

The national salary range is £37,683 - £41,506, London salary range is £43,647 - £48,067. Your salary will be dependent on your base location
