The Rural Payments Agency (RPA) is an executive agency of the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), delivering over £2 billion in payments to farmers, traders and landowners each year.

Job description:


  • Operational delivery is the outward face of government, providing vital services to our customers and stakeholders. In the Rural Payments Agency (RPA), colleagues working in operational delivery are at the frontline of our work which provides millions of pounds to the rural economy every year, making a real difference to the lives of people throughout England's countryside by helping to support businesses, make communities more sustainable and protecting and enhancing the natural environment. Our people do an essential job across the agency, helping customers to access services and meet their obligations.
  • These posts are for Executive Office roles within the Operational Delivery / Business Transformation Directorate designing, delivering training, working within the Programme Management Office or providing implementation support across the RPA.
  • During the appointment you may work in, or in support of, any or all of these activities, depending on the demands of the Agency and our customers

Person specification:

Trainer

  • Be confident in delivering training to learners using a variety of delivery methods i.e. classroom, audio, video etc.
  • Be an advocate for Learning and & Development in the Agency, working flexibly to support the delivery of internal and external training.
  • Able to work alone to adapt and deliver and facilitate training courses to match the needs of the trainees.
  • Ability to quickly understand new systems and processes to enable production of high quality products and support the smooth delivery of training packages.
  • Be flexible and willing to find innovative approaches to production and delivery of training and guidance and be willing to take on additional admin duties to support the continued learning of RPA people.
  • Use effective judgement to make informed decisions when necessary and take ownership for things that impact on their work or that of the team.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities, having the ability to quickly react, taking people with you to reprioritise and monitor the work of the team.
  • Willing to undertake external training appropriate to the role.
  • Willingness to Travel.

Implementation Support:


  • Be confident in supporting on Continuous Improvement and Business Excellence overview sessions using a variety of delivery methods i.e. classroom, audio, video etc.
  • Support a dispersed team of 4 HEOs delivering Continuous Improvement, Business Excellence and Business Readiness activity across RPA.
  • Ability to quickly understand new systems and processes to enable production of highquality products and support smooth delivery of Business Excellence objectives.
  • Carry out and be confident in information management.
  • Use effective judgement to make informed decisions when necessary and take ownership for things that impact on your work or that of the team.
  • Actively work towards embedding a culture of continuous improvement within RPA.
