Job Description:


  • The Tax Specialist supports the Tax Manager to help drive forward the Group Tax vision of driving a world class, dynamic, flexible, and empowered global tax team contributing to commercial success and delivering sustainable value, with a particular focus on the Crop Nutrients business and groupwide activities in the UK & Europe.
**This role is based in Resolution House, Scarborough.


Your duties will include:


  • Act as business partner, helping to foster and enable the connection and the dialogue between the Crop Nutrients business in particular and other Anglo American businesses operating in the UK & Europe and Group Tax.
  • Support development of strategic priorities and focus areas for Group Tax involving Business and/or Corporate Functions as a result of further business model change.
  • Identify tax risks and opportunities arising from the Group's evolving business model and assist in the development of solutions and actions as required to deliver/protect value for the Group in line with the Group's Tax Operating Framework.
  • Manage and or support delivery the implementation of identified strategic priorities and initiatives, including the communication required at different levels of the organisation.
  • Helping to build the relationship with the local tax authorities, in particular HMRC in the UK.
  • Implement tax risk mitigation strategies.
  • Support the implementation of changes to process, controls and systems in relation to local tax rules.
  • Identify and implement appropriate tax planning opportunities.
  • Raise awareness of tax issues, including assisting to effectively communicate tax issues to management.
  • Manage external professional service providers on tax matters.
  • Provide tax support to the Business Units and Group Functions with a view to identifying risk and opportunities and implementing advice and/or solutions as appropriate Support local implementation of Group Tax initiatives and strategic priorities.

Qualifications:


  • Either a Chartered Accountant or equivalent accounting or legal degree.

Knowledge and experience required:


  • Strong, practical knowledge of the UK tax system and in particular, a good working knowledge of the UK tax regime as it relates to capital intensive and/ or resource businesses would be preferable.
  • Transfer pricing experience in relation to loan relationships and a good working knowledge of international tax principles, tax residence etc would be an advantage.
  • How to influence people and manage change and effectively communicate ideas and solutions to senior management.
  • Ability to undertake presentations to Senior Management.
  • Efficient work practices & the ability to work independently is expected.

  • Analyse a whole host of information and extract the pertinent facts and make a sound tax analysis thereof.
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking ability to analyse complex and wideranging issues, design strategies to manage those issues and develop ideas into practical solutions.
  • Demonstrate welldeveloped analytical, planning, and problemsolving skills.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of commercial acumen.
  • Manage multiple tasks concurrently and work to deadlines.
  • Communicate key tax issues appropriately, with an ability to adapt tax advice accordingly depending on audience
