Alongside this ambition, we're looking for a talented person to join the growing team and support AXA's commitment to put its customers' needs first in line with the FCA's Consumer Duty directive to set higher and clearer standards of consumer protection.


The Governance Executive will play a crucial role for AXA in supporting the Retail Intermediary business on a broad range of regulatory activity across governance, compliance and conduct.

The core purpose of the role is to focus on current and future Consumer Duty initiatives, ensuring the AXA Retail Intermediary business meets all standards required for internal and external governing bodies, minimises loss and delivers desired customer outcomes.

The role will also cover a wider range of governance activity and broker oversight requirements, within the newly created Strategic Account Management team.


At AXA we're adopting a Hybrid way of working, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers.

However in this role you will need to come to our London or Ipswich offices, probably once a fortnight.


What you'll be doing:


  • Taking accountability for Retail Intermediary performance against all required FCA Consumer Duty initiatives and associated regulatory expectations.
  • Leading detailed assessments of the oversight and processes that our brokers and software houses have in place, determining any Consumer Duty gaps in their controls & reporting.
  • Identifying and implementing improvements to broker governance frameworks, which will ensure more robust oversight of customer outcomes.
  • Oversight of intermediary broker and software house contracts, driving amendments in line with future governance requirements, where required.
  • Supporting the wider compliance agenda with all internal and external regulations across the Intermediary business and teams including GIPP, Fair Value Assessments, VIDC, Consumer Duty and other required policies.
  • Supporting the business teams through audit activity, including independent/thematic reviews carried out by parties external.
  • Supporting the audit action tracking process including AXA Group, Operational Risk, Group Internal Audit, Compliance Monitoring, Internal Controls and Operational Risk Escalation issues, ensuring that regular updates are provided to senior management, and reported to key committees including Third Party Governance committee and Conduct Risk Committee.
  • Working closely with 1st and 2nd line Risk & Governance teams to ensure the business is fully compliant and tracks & monitors required actions.
  • Identifying and building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support delivery of objectives whilst maintaining and promoting a culture of risk and compliance awareness.

Qualifications:


  • Broad business knowledge from within Financial Services sector. Personal Lines Intermediary market environment knowledge beneficial
  • Clear understanding of legislation and regulation applied to the Financial Services industry, particularly in relation to the end consumer
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and ability to learn and adapt new requirements
  • Experience of managing and supporting risk, control & compliance within a diverse operating environment
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Strong oral/written communication skills
  • Experience in liaising with trading teams and senior management
