Post 1:
37.5 hours, 10:00-18:00 week 1&3 Monday to Friday, week 2&4 Monday to Wednesday and Saturday & Sunday. Based at Penn Hospital


Post 2:
30 hours, 10:00-18:00 4 days a week, variable to cover leave and sickness across the Trust (DPH, HLH, BFH & Penn)


The role of the Facilities Assistant/Porter is to work within the Trust Facilities Management structure to ensure that the Facilities Assistant/Porter supports clinical colleagues and Facilities services.

Key areas of responsibility;

  • To work as part of the Facilities team carrying out the duties as laid down for the General Facilities Assistant role as defined by the Trust.
  • Collection and delivery of clean and soiled linen, movement of service trolleys, parcels and other items of furniture/equipment around the site.
  • Removal of all waste (clinical and nonclinical) from Ward and Department.
  • To clean and maintain the waste holding compounds to ensure waste is segregated as per legislation in to correct receptacles.
  • To sweep and litter pick around the site, to ensure that the site is a safe clean environment.
  • To replace facilities consumables including batteries in dispensers, Hand Gel, Soap, Hand Towel as directed on site.
  • Be responsible for keeping corridors, etc. clutter free and return of provision boxes and cages to safe areas on site, or as directed.
