Several exciting opportunities have arisen to join the West Midlands Regional Genetics Laboratory in an automation-focussed Genetic Technologist role.

The role forms part of a developing Automation Team within the Technical Programme responsible for the implementation of automated solutions to laboratory processes and workflows to increase capacity and improve turnaround times.


The laboratory is located at Birmingham Womens Hospital and is the lead laboratory in the Central and South Genomic Laboratory Hub, the largest of the seven national Genomic Laboratory Hubs, receiving in excess of 85,000 samples per annum.

The department performs a wide range of genomic testing using a large variety of testing methodologies to fulfill the requirements of the National Genomic Test Directory.


We are looking for highly motivated individuals with a flexible approach to work who are committed to implementing new developments and a career in laboratory diagnostic genetics.
