Head of Finance to be based at
our** Head Office in Cheadle, Greater Manchester.
You will join us on a full time basis on a permanent contract and in return you will receive a competitive salary and company benefits.


Human Appeal is a faith-based international charity that aims to abolish poverty by providing humanitarian aid, sustainable development programs and championing advocacy for our beneficiaries worldwide.


Key responsibilities of our Head of Finance:

  • Line management of up to 10, comprising Accountants, Finance Officers and Finance Assistants
  • Ensuring monthend accounting and reporting is delivered in a timely manner
  • Managing the preparation of statutory accounting and year end audits
  • Ensuring the monthly reconciliation of all income and expenditure
  • Managing the VAT and HMRC submissions and reporting
  • Successfully safeguarding the charity from risk in accordance with internal policies and procedures, as well as external regulations such as institutional grant requirements and Charity SORP Accounting
  • Delivering value for money by ensuring due diligence checks are applied to all financial matters Managing and develop a high performing and capable Finance team to deliver a quality service to Human Appeal

What were looking for in our Head of UK Finance:

  • Professional Qualification with minimum fellow status with a recognised professional institute such as ICAEW, ACCA or CIMA
  • Qualified Professional Accountant with a minimum 3 years of experience in a relevant role as a Finance Team Manager or 5 years of experience in a Senior role in Charity Accounting
  • Audit training with a recognised audit firm
  • Experience in MS Office Suite, SAGE 50, Microsoft NAV or other Accounting Systems
  • Knowledge of Charity SORP Accounting, VAT Accounting / Partial Exemption & VAT Returns
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage time, workload and prioritise work to deadlines
This would be an ideal role for an Experienced Head of Finance / Finance Team Manager looking to make a difference in a rewarding role within the Charity Sector
