  • Temporary Role 3 months with possible extension
- £18.27 per hour PAYE / £24 per hour Umbrella

  • Based on site at scheme in Ealing, W5
This Scheme is comprised of 33 1-bed flats in an enclosed block on 3 floors.


Purpose of Role

  • Improve outcomes for Ealing residents by providing a customer orientated service in line with Council values and objectives.
  • Support residents who are vulnerable (e.g. due to old age, mental illness, or disability) to sustain their tenancies and live independently, carrying out initial assessments, and periodic reviews, of residents' support needs and the suitability of their accommodation, making recommendations where concerns arise.
  • Support residents to sustain their tenancies and live independently, by carrying out assessments to minimise risk to H&S and Fire safety for vulnerable residents, with periodic reviews for their support needs and making referrals to appropriate teams, where concerns arise.
  • Work flexibly as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver tailored housing services to residents with high support needs, working in partnership with other relevant services to achieve the best outcomes for them.
  • Be responsible for at least one Sheltered Housing scheme, taking all reasonable steps to ensure the welfare and safety of residents.
  • Responsible for allocated sheltered housing scheme/s, by coordinating appropriate welfare and emergency response for alarm activation and offering support and assistance to residents as required.

Key Accountabilities
1)To provide clear, pragmatic and customer centred housing services tailored to residents with high support needs, to assist them to sustain their tenancy and live independently

2) Act as an ambassador for the Council, by providing professional, sensitive and confidential service to support residents in an effective and efficient manner and by upholding all Council policies, such as Lone Working, Equality and Diversity and Code of Conduct.

3) Deliver coordinated resident services as part of a multi-disciplinary team. This could include duty, home visits, planned and reactive appointments, case conferences etc.

4) To carry out welfare checks for sheltered housing residents and other tenants who have been identified as having additional support needs.

5) To visit Sheltered Housing schemes and log onto the warden alarm call system to monitor alarm calls by the residents and make appropriate decisions to action by assessing the nature of enquiries and prioritise the level of urgency, whilst conducting residents welfare checks and other duties in the scheme.

6) To address the outcome of assessments for residents with high support needs, by contacting and liaising with internal and external stakeholders to provide appropriate services and to follow up to ensure they sustain their tenancy and live independently.


7) To maintain accurate and retrievable records of assessments and identified support needs, actions and decisions for all residents, in accordance to Data Protection (GDPR) policy.

8) To promote and manage the safety of residents and assets through proactive monitoring and responsive activity to emerging risk, such as programming scheme pendent and test the warden alarm system to ensure equipment is regularly tested and report the faults.

9) To visit the allocated schemes on a daily basis to undertake duties such as compliance checks, health and safety of communal areas and water safety checks, in accordance with the service objectives and key performance indicators.


11)Safeguard vulnerable residents in line with Council policies ensuring protective measures within the control of the postholder are expedited (e.g.

referrals to Social Services)

12) To support cohesion and active citizenship in sheltered housing schemes, by assisting Resident involvement team, to promote resident activities and active participation of residents in events organised for their benefit.

13) To provide a holistic management service, by cooperation with the Housing Hub colleagues, repairs, allocations and other services.

14) To deliver all activities and tasks with skill and diplomacy, upholding the Council's equalities and diversity policies, respecting confidentiality and observing all principles of data and information security/protection.

15) To actively participate in one-to-ones, staff appraisals and team meetings, and attend training relevant to the post. 16)To assume any other reasonable functions, duties and responsibilities as requested by the employing department which are within the reasonable competence of the post holder.

17) To work flexibly within a rota and cover the work colleagues at times of absenteeism, such as annual leave and sickness and meet the needs of the service, by facilitating special events in line with business requirements
