Job Introduction
As the Recruitment Consultant, Diverse Talent, you will
- implement a recruitment strategy that enables us to recruit a diverse and skilled workforce, reviewing all aspects of our recruitment process
- provide professional support, advice and guidance to managers, individually and in groups, verbally, in writing and through delivery of training support
- work with community groups and other stakeholders across the city to understand barriers to recruitment, to share our vacancies and to provide insight into working at the council.


All of this is based on analysis of our workforce and recruitment data to identify where there is under-representation so you will need to be able to use your excel and analytical skills to draw out conclusions and to target our work appropriately.


You'll also be someone who:
- understands diversity and inclusion and the barriers that may exist for people from different groups
- is comfortable presenting information - whether that's job details at careers fairs, recruitment data to groups of manager or insight courses and other targeted support to community groups - ensuring that it is accessible and inclusive
- can communicate in an inclusive and accessible way to influence and collaborate with a wide range of partners
- is able to work independently prioritising and planning a varied range of projects
- is curious, able to ask questions and challenge using your knowledge of best practice in diversity and recruitment and tailoring that to our huge array of roles (from lifeguards to lawyers, tree surgeons to toilet cleaners, plasterers to planning professionals)


In this work, you will play a key role in to updating the recruitment practices of one of the largest employers in the city, creating opportunities for a wider group of people to work with us.

You will be encouraged to keep up with best practice and to develop your skills through access to a wide range of internal and external training as well as collaboration with internal and external partners.


You will be working with a dedicated recruitment team as well as colleagues across Human Resources and Organisational Development and our Equalities Team and will be able to join one of our four employee networks.

We work flexibly in a hybrid way with people working a mix of days at home and in the office.

Additional Information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

Package Description

We are looking for a Recruitment Consultant, Diverse Talent to join our team.

This is an exciting time to work in recruitment at the council as we have started on a strategic review of our recruitment offer improving what we do so that we reach and can recruit from all the diverse communities in the city.

As an organisation, we continue to work on our Fair and Inclusive Action Plan, our Anti-Racist City strategy and our Accessible City strategy as we pursue our aim to have a workforce that reflects the diversity of our residents.
