At Kent and Medway NHS & Social Care Partnership Trust we understand the vital role played by cleaning and catering staff within the NHS.

Therefore, we are looking for hard working individuals to help us achieve The National Cleaning Standards at Ethelbert Rd, a 9 bedded inpatient rehabilitation unit situated in the heart of Canterbury.

We provide a service 7 days a week, 365 days a year and the successful applicant with work with the clinical team and residents to support the management and maintenance cleanliness on the unit

To maintain a patient focused Hotel Services function across clinical and non-clinical areas.

To undertake general cleaning duties and other related tasks within a designated area.

The daily shift plan is completed in the agreed time scale and hygiene standards are met.

Cleaning is carried out in accordance with recognised approved Trust methods

To complete departmental performance monitoring weekly, to achieve and maintain the Trust standard.

To report and take immediate action to remedy any discrepancies in food quantity or quality.

To ensure food is appropriately labelled and correctly stored.

To undertake checks as requested including fridge temperatures and maintain records.


To ensure waste is disposed of in accordance with the Trust waste disposal policy, assuring Health and Safety standards are adhered to.

Removal of rubbish to designated collection points.

To wear the uniform provided, and ensure that it is kept clean and presentable at all times.

To wear the staff name badge provided by the Trust at all times when on duty.

No jewellery is to be worn except a wedding ring and single ear studs.

To co-operate with managers and other employees to achieve a healthy and safe environment.


To take reasonable care of your own health and safety and that of other persons who may be affected by your actions, and to carry out your responsibilities in ways that ensure a safe and healthy place of work.

In the course of work you are to bring to the attention of your supervisor or manager:

Any situation which reasonably could be considered to represent a serious or immediate danger to the health and safety of any person.

Any matter which reasonably could be considered to represent a shortcoming in the Trusts health and safety protection arrangements.

Attend training sessions not necessarily held at your place of work and at times not rostered to work.

To undertake other duties at the discretion of your supervisor or Trust Managers.
