The Camanachd Association is the Governing Body for shinty and our objective is to protect and enhance shinty as a vibrant and integral part of Scottish life.


Our strategy, One Sport One Community , captures the breadth of work that the Camanachd Association delivers from ensuring our work enriches the lives of our members and community to delivering opportunities for people to participate in shinty within their local community.


About the Role


The Finance and Administration Officer is a key role for the Camanachd Association and will work collaboratively across Finance and Administrative aspects of the organisation to enhance efficiency with our membership and key stakeholders.


This is a full-time post and will require occasional weekend working for specific planned CA activities which will be compensated for by time off in lieu.


In line with the wider Strategic Plan for Shinty, the post holder will take lead responsibility for a range of business areas including finance, membership administration, office administration and general communications.

About the Role


The Finance and Administration Officer is a key role for the Camanachd Association and will work collaboratively across Finance and Administrative aspects of the organisation to enhance efficiency with our membership and key stakeholders.

In line with the wider Strategic Plan for Shinty, the post holder will take lead responsibility for a range of business areas including finance, membership administration, office administration and general communications.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead responsibility for finance.
  • Provide monthly management accounts to the CEO and relevant budget reports to staff upon request demonstrating up to date income and expenditure and communicating its impact on the association.
  • Work with the CA's appointed accountants to prepare endofyear returns.
  • Prepare HMRC information and VAT partial exemption quarterly returns.
  • Maintain asset registry and security of assets.
  • A member of the Finance Committee responsible for preparing finance board report and signatory to the CA bank account.
  • Administration of all invoicing and supplier payments, the purchase order system, Debtor & Creditor tracking and monthly bank reconciliation all via SAGE
  • Provide front line response to general office enquiries from Members or the wider public and provide administrative advice and support to the wider staff as appropriate.
  • Develop, implement and embed efficient office processes and procedures to meet current legislation, data protection requirements and best business practice.
  • Lead responsibility of administration for club, association and individual memberships and the main contact point for all membership and insurance enquiries.
  • Provide administrative support for the CEO at meetings and general staff administration and company HR support.
  • Responsible for maintaining an efficient working environment and with preparation of board papers
  • Provide progress reports as required, plus recommendations for future improvement upon request.

General responsibilities include:

  • Profiling Shinty through Camanachd Association social media channel, website and other publications on a regular and proactive basis
  • Any other duties as may be delegated.
