Compliance Monitoring Manager (Insurance)

The Company currently writes lines of business including; specialty insurance: aviation & aerospace, energy, marine, property, credit & political risk, and other specialty; reinsurance: property reinsurance, property retrocession, specialty reinsurance, wholeaccount/multi-class.


Role purpose

Reporting to the Head of UK Compliance, the role represents an exciting opportunity to be responsible for overseeing and managing the monitoring program in order to provide assurance on the adequacy of systems and controls and to support the Head of UK Compliancein the management of the Compliance team.


Duties and Responsibilities
Your responsibilities for this role may include, but are not limited to, supporting the Compliance team in relation to:

  • Designing the annual Compliance Monitoring Plan in line with the annual Compliance Risk Assessment.
  • Undertaking the annual review of policies, procedures and guidance documents as they relate to Compliance Monitoring.
  • Performance of second line Compliance Monitoring activities across all departments.
  • The preparation of both individual monitoring reports and the quarterly Compliance Monitoring Report.
  • Liaising with the Coverholder Audit Manager to provide Compliance insight and support for external audits of binders.
  • Supporting the completion of the Compliance Plan.
  • Taking the lead on planning and completing adhoc projects in relation to Compliance monitoring and associated matters.
  • Act as the compliance representative for the Delegated Performance Management Group.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:


  • Compliance monitoring experience in the London Insurance market, knowledge of international licensing is essential.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills to enable communication at all levels.
  • Strong analytical, research and reporting skills.
  • Ability to handle a varied workload and competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Willingness to work extended hours as required.

Preferred skills, knowledge and experience:


  • Knowledge of the regulatory landscapes outside of the UK.
  • Proficiency in Power Point.
  • Report writing and presenting skills.
