The Environmental Services Team is part of Lancashire Highways Service which is responsible for the direct delivery of all highways related schemes and maintenance across the County made up of 4300 miles of road, 151,000 street lights, 2955 bridges, thousands of trees and miles of vegetation.

The Environmental Services Team also works in partnership with other Lancashire County Council departments to provide quality landscape and grounds maintenance services at a wide range of Lancashire County Council sites including corporate facilities, countryside sites and schools.


We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable people with experience of grounds maintenance or landscaping and a current, full driving licence to join the team.


What you will be doing

  • Leading a small team in the provision of grounds maintenance and landscaping on LCC corporate facilities, schools, highways and countryside sites within the guidelines of a safe working environment.
  • Operating a wide range of equipment (for which training will be provided) including items such as strimmers, mowers, hedge cutters and blowers.
  • Recording and updating site information via written documents or mobile devices
  • Performing additional winter maintenance duties.
  • Ensuring work is completed to a high standard and in compliance with Health and Safety Legislation
  • Assisting other Environmental Services teams such as arborists

Our main base of work is Cuerden Depot, Cuerden Way, Bamber Bridge PR5 6BJ, however being a countywide service, you may be required to work from one of our other depots across the county or from working sites.

Your daily work will take you to all corners of Lancashire on sites including highways, countryside, activity centres, libraries, care homes, youth centres and tourist attractions.
