Job Purpose


Oral Care Consultants are field based specialists who work in close partnership with the UK dental professionals and dental student population.

This role involves detailing and influencing dental professionals to recommend or prescribe Colgate products to either existing or new customers in the dental sector.

A diverse team of Oral Care Consultants operate across clearly defined territories UK wide.

The role is field-based and are essential in maintaining and building brand awareness and sales for our professional products range.


What you will do:


  • Visit dentists, hygienists, and therapists within dental practices, area health authorities, hospitals and dental hospitals located within your territory. There will be a particular focus on next generation's dentists including dental foundation students. If appropriate, occasional visits to dental students within assigned dental universities.
  • The aim of these visits is to establish contact, build rapport, sell specialist Professional products, drive recommendation and endorsement for our consumer brands.
  • You will educate the dental professional and their teams in specific oral care areas, as well as the benefits of our Colgate products.
  • You will be expected to deliver larger group presentations within universities to students and to local regional groups where appropriate.
  • Work closely with your area manager to develop your skills and capability through mentoring and an individual development plan including keeping up to date on mandatory compliance training.
  • Responsible for maintaining and collating customer records within our CRM system.
  • Complete a business plan and weekly visits plans.
  • Provide technical/scientific and product information through arranging, coordinating and presenting at trade exhibitions, educational group meetings to dentists and on a onetoone basis.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and market intelligence to Professional Marketing and Sales team.
  • Deliver upon KPIs, which involve contacting dental professionals and their teams face to face and/or by phone.

  • Expertise in consultative and solutions selling
  • Experienced in being customer facing in the field
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely complex concepts (Medical and Scientific data) to customers
  • Analytical skills
  • Educated to degree level standard
  • Consistent track record of operating in a critical metric driven environment
  • The ability to make customer centric sales recommendations
  • Exposure to working/partnering with healthcare professionals
  • Influencing and networking to gain access into universities
