OPRA have a great opportunity for a Cardiothoracic Surgical Care Practitioner to join a Surgical Institute.
This is a full-time role with the following shift patterns: 07:30 - 20:30, 3 long working days per week between Monday - Friday and on-call requirements to cover 1 in 8-weekend services.
Role Duties:
- Actively participate in surgical procedures at the direction and/or instruction of the Consultant surgeon.
- Develop researchbased practice, and quality assurance in line with the Care Standards Act 2000 and clinical audit.
- The post holder will always be under the supervision and/or instruction of the consultant surgeon who has overall responsibility for the surgical care received by the patient.
- Facilitate junior members of the team with their CPD, setting goals, facilitating training opportunities and mentoring as appropriate.
- Participate in training and education with the wider theatre team to further facilitate awareness of the conversion of practices.
Essential Skills:
- Significant experience at a Surgical Care Practitioner level assisting surgeons through Cardiothoracic and Vascular surgeries, with experience in conduit harvesting, endoscopic vessel harvesting experience is preferable. This training can also be provided as part of the role and opportunity available.
- Ability to proactively identify opportunities for team and individual improvement.
