You will commence with us as a Trainee Resource Co-ordinator in our busy Scheduling Dept. based at HQ Waterloo.

During the training, you'll receive a salary of £19,241 plus £4,810 HCAS (75%) rising up to a maximum of £25,655 plus £5,131 HCAS after training (training is 10 weeks).

You will also be placed on section 2 for unsocial hours payment.


The post holder will be both responsible and accountable for the effective resourcing of Staff which will directly impact on the Services ability to provide patient care to the highest level possible and meet current performance standards.


Processing AL/Overtime, maximising staffing levels, liaising with other Depts., keeping out of service levels to a minimum, team player assisting colleagues in giving an overall forecast of staffing levels for senior management.


  • Understanding of rota systems. Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines whilst maintaining quality standards.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Welldeveloped administrative skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer literate with an excellent understanding of software packages, including MS Word and Excel.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to produce and maintain accurate records.
  • Good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate with all levels of staff.
Be able to multi-task effectively with frequent interruptions.

The Scheduling team are an integral part of the London Ambulance Service ensuring enough resources are available to serve the people of London.

We deal with the operational, 9's, 1's and other support services ensuring contract hours are adhered to by all staff, dealing with Annual Leave, Absences including sickness, meetings, training and general issues that occur throughout the day which affect staff and their hours of work.

Team player ethos dealing with many tasks. AL 202.5hours per year raising to 217.5 after 5 years and 247.5 after 10 years. Use of subsidised canteen.


The role is a challenging one as no one day is ever the same and we strive to ensure best practise is adopted and processes are reviewed inviting staff to put forward their feedback and suggestions.


This role would ideally suit someone who is enthusiastic, reliable and has the ability to work autonomously whilst also being part of an integral team who support one another.


10 weeks training will be given to ensure the maximum support is available from the outset with ongoing training throughout their employment including the ability to continue with CPD.

We are open from 0600 -midnight 7 days a week/365 days a year.


You will be committed to working a full rotating shift pattern of hours between covering 7 days a week, 365 days a year inclusive of Bank Holidays.

You will be given a rota so you know in advance the shifts you will be working.

Priority will be given to London Ambulance Service employees who are at risk of redundancy.
