Balfour Beatty Vinci has an exciting opportunity for an Art Coordinator to join our team based in Birmingham (with specific focus on Washwood Heath, Delta Junction and Kenilworth Greenway), working on the HS2 project

About The Role:


  • Coordinate the delivery of the BBV arts and culture strategy, managing the art consultant already appointed.
  • Responsibility for budget and managing cashflow/payments to the art consultant.
  • Manage the arts and culture programme to ensure proposed key deadlines are met.
  • Researching and building relationships with external stakeholders 'on the ground' to support BBV's work with Art &Culture, landscape and community engagement.
  • Delivering regular engagement with external stakeholders regarding the arts strategy and landscape.
  • Supporting the arts consultant team and artists in delivering their role in the key locations.
  • Assist the landscape lead in their role reviewing design and inspecting on site works.

What You'll Be Doing:


  • Experience in management of a consultant, including budgets and programme.
  • Understanding of incorporation of art into the landscape design coordination with the project landscape architects and eventual appointed artists.
  • Experience in engagement with external stakeholders and the public.
  • Confidence to present to others, internally and external.
  • Work collaboratively with the HS2 arts team, the art consultant and the artists.
  • Experience and knowledge of landscape design on site. Site inspections of landscape works.
  • Understanding of landscape specifications, planting schedules, planting plans, master plans and maintenance plans.
  • Attendance of design review meetings with the subcontractor and client.

The following qualities/ experience are essential:


  • Project management experience of consultant, budgets and programme.
  • Landscape architecture qualification degree level.
  • Site experience of landscape implementation.
  • Understanding of the benefits of working collaboratively to obtain the best outcome for the project.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills ability to consult with others and present.
  • Determination to see tasks through to completion, with excellent planning and organisation skills.

The following qualities/ experience are desirable:


  • Experience of building and developing relationships with community stakeholders.
  • Experience of working with and supporting artists to deliver artworks within a community context.
  • Experience of working with landscape contractors.
  • Experience of soil handling management.
