Position Overview:

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic
Production Operative to join our friendly team in South Petherton, Somerset.

The Production Operative is responsible for setting up and operating timber sawing machines and cutting European Oak to comply with customer orders, ensuring that the finished result is of the highest quality and always delivered on time.


Key Objectives:


  • Operating and setting timber sawing & processing machines to ensure LM targets are achieved and the finished product achieves the correct quality, including saws & moulders.
  • Working as part of a team to ensure the production flow is maintained, and daily production deadlines are met.
  • Changing Blades/cutters.
  • Routine cleaning & maintenance of the machines.
  • Clearly and correctly tally sawn/machined timber onto production paperwork / system.
  • Labelling and marking up finished product correctly.
  • Other Sawmill / Production tasks as and when required.

About you:


  • Experience in timber handling / picking / carpentry / construction
  • Experience in working in a timber sawmill, operating machinery, machining timber with a certificate, diploma or degree qualification (preferred)
  • Forklift license (preferred, not essential can provide training)
  • Good Team Player, with a positive attitude
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Focussed yet flexible approach solution finder
  • Keen attention to detail to pick up on special order requirements and analysing products for quality and accuracy
  • Ability to perform well in a timepressured environment

Salary & Perks:
£23,000 - £27,000 - starting salary based on experience, and clear salary progression in the role available.

Development within role.

Additional holiday bonus scheme after 5 years of service

Monday - Friday, 7am - 4pm
