The Chief Executive is responsible to the Chair and the Board of Trustees for the overall strategic direction and leadership of Stay.

You will lead, shape and develop the organisation by working together with the Board and stakeholders on strategy, direction and policy matters.

You will ensure that the organisation has an ongoing focus on development and sustainability. You will work to ensure that the organisation is truly influential in Telford and beyond.


You will nurture the strategic partnerships developed by our outgoing CEO, build new networks and alliances, as well as ensure that strong and positive relationships exist with wider stakeholders and partners.


You will champion the client journey and ensure that Stay's performance is amongst the best in the sector as well as cultivate data management and social outcome monitoring systems developed by Stay for the wider sector.

You are comfortable leading change and ensuring high level performance.


You will ensure that the organisation has an effective operating model in place which enables the efficient use of its people and other resources.

You will provide inspiring leadership to staff, volunteers and partners.


Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Organisational Leadership

  • Work closely with the Board and the Senior Management Team to provide strategic leadership to all aspects of the organisation.
  • Develop and implement strategic and operational business plans for the organisation that are adaptive to economic circumstances.
  • Effectively supervise the management of the organization to uphold its integrity; ensuring rigorous procedures are in place, and ensuring legal compliance.
  • Ensure optimum staffing structure and the highest standards of people management, development and support across the whole organisation; fostering a Growth Mindset.
  • Provide direct line management and support to the Senior Management Team.
  • Oversee the financial management of the organisation.
  • Ensure that the organisation is sustainable and has a strong funding base.
  • Promote and protect the aims, principles, policies, interests and reputation of the Stay both locally and ensure that the organisation has a high profile at all times.
  • Develop effective relationships with appropriate bodies, agencies, organisations and individuals working at local and regional levels including MP's, local and national statutory and non statutory organisations.

Supporting and working with the Trustee Board

  • Advise on compliance with all relevant legislation for example company and charity law, health and safety, employment, etc.
  • Ensure that the Board has a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the market. Action those opportunities which will allow the organisation to grow
  • Oversee the development and regular updating of an organisational strategic risk register.
  • Ensure that the organisation complies with all legal and other reporting requirements, including for example annual reports to the Charity Commission, Companies House and funders.

Financial Management

  • Ensure that all elements of the financial activity of the organisation both operationally and strategically are well managed, advising the Board on allocation of resources. Ensure that regular financial, risk and other reports are prepared for approval by the Board.
  • Act as a signatory and authorise expenditure within the limits set by the Board.

Business Services

  • Ensure that effective administrative systems are established, maintained and monitored.
  • Ensure that the organisation complies with all aspects of health and safety policies ensure that the service is adequately accommodated and equipped in consideration of the needs of clients and our people and the effective operation of the service.
  • Undertake such duties as may lie within the scope of the post to ensure effective service delivery and development of the service.

Personal Specification

Experience

  • Significant experience of leading and managing an organisation(s).
  • Experience in leading change management
  • Strong understanding, gained through experience, of good governance and how to deliver it.

Finance

  • Excellent managerial and financial skills and the ability to take leadership over any business operations area.
  • Proven track record of securing funding in a tough financial climate.
  • Strong understanding of detailed charity finance.
  • Budget management.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to enthuse, motivate and develop teams to deliver results
  • Ability to think strategically and to communicate the strategic vision
  • Excellent all round communication skills and relationship management abilities
  • Understanding of the Charity, voluntary and community sector and the issues it faces.
