We're the world's first prison-based coffee company. We provide professional coffee industry training, both inside and outside of prison with direct pathways to long-term employment.

We are looking for a Lead Caseworker
Redemption Roaster's mission is to reduce reoffending in the UK through the provision of sustainable pathways to employment. The Lead Caseworker is responsible for providing individualised support for participants enrolled in our employment and training program.

You will work with the rest of the Impact team to ensure we create a safe, inclusive and productive environment for all of our participants.

You will be responsible for acting as an advocate for your clients and ensuring they have access to the support they need.

Given the complex needs of our participants, you will need to be confident and experienced with working with prisoners, prison leavers and individuals at-risk of offending.

The role is based at our offices in King's Cross but will require frequent travel to our prison-based academies and specialty coffee shops.

This role is not remote.

We are looking for a strong generalist with the ability to think strategically as well as deliver meaningful outcomes for our participants.

Criteria

  • Previous lived experience of the justice system either direct or indirect (preferable)
  • Previous experience working with a high need vulnerable client group
  • Good Understanding of safeguarding (DSL trained preferable)
  • Good understanding of the criminal justice system, understanding key work areas, restrictions, probation and licence and criminal record disclosure
  • Previous 11 mentoring or key work experience
  • Previous experience of partnership agency working
  • Ability to empower a marginalised client group and motivate them to believe in change, and work with challenging behaviour
  • Previous experience understanding risk in relation to safeguarding
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds

Mentoring

  • Travel across sites to different cafes and prison training academies
  • Carry out assessment of work and holistic needs
  • Partnership working, signposting and referral to other agencies (Housings, Universal credit, mental health, recovery etc)
  • Overall responsibility for participant affairs from when they first come into contact with Redemption, in prison or in the community, until they are established in a job
  • Establish links with individuals in prison and assess their potential for a career path in the coffee industry

Outreach and Employment support
Find job placements for participants either within the company or, if appropriate, elsewhere

  • Act as a link between partner employers and participants including balancing the interests of the Hospitality team as well as the participant
  • Assist participantswith pastoral and practical needs: parole, housing, bank account, CV, interview booking, travel arrangements etc.
  • Communicate regularly with every active participants and conduct check ins, 11 sessions,
  • Guide participants on required work standards expected as an employee
  • Liaise between Redemption hospitality teams to ensure participant is adequately supported during their time with us

Safeguarding and Professional boundaries

  • Act as the designated safeguarding officer/lead taking ownership of safeguarding as DSL including policy review, reviewing safeguarding alerts, taking appropriate action, reporting to statutory bodies eg. probation service etc. Follow up on safeguarding reports and where applicable have a supervision session to review/ signpost
  • Report on any instances when boundaries have been crossed and discuss with manager and or supervisor
  • Exercise
    strong professional boundaries in creating and relationships with participants
  • Act as an emergency point of contact for Graduates and manage conflict situations (MON-FRI)

Admin and record keeping

  • Keep accurate records of casework, paperwork and fulfill reporting in line with any funding requirements
