TEC Partners are working with an exciting synthetic biology company based in Cambridge that is revolutionising DNA synthesis technology.

Their process aims to address the current limitations of gene synthesis and to provide the means to bring laboratory platforms to an industrial scale.


The company brings together multidisciplinary scientists from various areas of expertise, including biological and chemical scientists, and mechanical and software engineers.

They are currently looking for an Associate Scientist to join their synthesis team for a fixed-term 6-month contract with the aim to support prototype instrument development and testing, as the company goes through an exciting stage towards commercialising their DNA synthesis platform.


Responsibilities

  • Running experiments and tests for prototype instruments
  • Preparing buffers, solutions, and reagents
  • Recording and reporting experimental data
  • Being responsible for instrument calibration, verification, and regular checks
  • Lab management responsibilities, such as stock management, batch tracking, and ordering
  • Quality control of the reagents

Requirements:


  • Degree in Chemistry (BSc or MSc)
  • Academic or industrial chemistry lab experience
  • Good understanding of chemistry laboratory equipment
  • Very good knowledge of lab safety procedures and requirements
  • Knowledge and experience in handling chemical reagents
  • Computer literacy: MS Word, MS Excel, electronic lab notebooks; willingness to learn working with sample management and ordering systems
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data and communicate it with accuracy and clarity

Advantageous experience

  • Analytical instruments, such as HPLC, IR, LC-MS, fluorescent microscopy
  • Experience working in manufacturing or process environment

Job Types:
Temporary contract, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 6 months


Salary:
£30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
