Weekend Library Assistant

Start:
Week commencing 18th September (3 month contract)

Hours of work will be Saturdays & Sundays 10:45am to 9:15pm

Main purpose of the role:

You will be providing first-line and administrative support for excellent customer services and the Library-managed learning spaces and facilities.


Main duties & responsibilities:


  • Respond to customer enquiries received at the Library help point
  • Provide assistance to customers with use of library services including borrowing, membership, and online resources, referring more complex enquiries to the Weekend Library Supervisor
  • Assist with processes to support the loan service including receipt and return of Click & Collect, Stores and Interlibrary loan materials
  • Assist with marketing and promotion of the library's resources and services using a variety of channels including social media
  • Assist with Health and Safety inspections and monitoring

Ideal person specification:


  • 5 A*C GCSE's or equivalent
  • Experience of working with customers in a service environment
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to relate to a diverse range of colleagues and customers and understand their needs
  • Accuracy and attention to detail under pressure, able to complete repetitive but important tasks which may sometimes be complex
