An exciting and visible new role - working with the leading trading firms in Europe


The European Principal Traders Association (FIA EPTA) is looking for an
experienced senior policy advisor to lead our work programme in Prudential Regulation & Risk.


This is a role which can be based out of Amsterdam or London.


What you will do:


You will have primary responsibility for executing FIA EPTA's work programme in the area of EU and UK regulatory policy regarding Prudential Regulation & Risk.


This will include:

  • Proactively working with FIA EPTA memberexperts to identify prudential requirements which lead to undue capital inefficiencies or reporting requirements to be followed by advocating for constructive and realistic change;
  • Identifying new prudential policy trends at EU, UK and global level and crafting effective influencing strategies to shape earlystage policy decisions;
  • Preparation and drafting of technical policy analyses, Q&As, consultation responses and position papers;
  • Playing a visible role in representing FIA EPTA's policy and advocacy positions to external stakeholders in the EU and UK

Whom we are looking for:


  • 10+ Years of directly relevant experience in Prudential Regulation & Risk, for example within a (clearing) bank, investment firm or CCP, at a prudential regulator/supervisor, or at an auditing firm or other consultancy
  • Deep and varied knowledge of the prudential rulebook and obligations across the different risk pillars, in particular market risk and operational risk and CCP/Clearing Bank margin rules.
  • Understanding of the business models of trading firms and wholesale market dealer desks, as well as the regulatory and supervisory (Pillar2) processes, including ICAAP/ICARA and SREP.
  • Familiarity with the IFR / IFD or IFPR is a plus.
  • A welldeveloped organisational sensitivity and a solid and credible counterparty to senior policy makers, regulators, supervisors and other stakeholders.


We are looking for someone with a creative and out-of-the-box mindset who can challenge the norm while being solution oriented.

Having strong collaborative, project management and drafting skills is key. You are able to lead detailed technical discussionsand move these forward to clear and concise advice or policy positions. Excellent command of written and spoken English is a must. The role will involve periodic travelling.
