Overview / Responsibilities:
Wood Process and Energy are recruiting for

HSSE Advisor
***to support a project in Redcar's site.


You will be responsible for supporting the Project HSSE Manager with the provision of timely advice and guidance on all matters pertaining to Health, Safety and the Environment with respect to Legislation, Company Policy and Management System and Client requirements, thereby ensuring business risks are prevented and mitigated throughout the Construction phase of the project.


Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:


  • Daily planning of HSSE activities in line with construction activities being undertaken.
  • Liaising with contractors on HSSE related matters on a day to day basis.
  • Reviewing contractors safe system of work documentation.
  • Managing the project HSE management / interface requirements; ensuring compliance with all existing interface documents and in the development of future plans.
  • Ensuring the requirements stipulated in HSE management documents/plans are communicated to all relevant personnel and implemented within area of responsibility.
  • Ensure legal and other requirements are complied within area of responsibility including the requirements of the Construction, Design and Management Regulations.
  • Supporting HSE incident investigations and undertaking the appropriate reporting requirements.
  • Assist in coordinating internal and external audits.
  • Communicating the important messages from incidents and accidents as a part of the Lessons learned process to all relevant parties
  • Promoting and communicating lessons learned from within their own project; reporting deficiencies within project and corporate functions and recording all reportable issues within the project action tracking and incident reporting systems
  • Ensuring that emergency response arrangements are in place and are communicated to all personnel; ensuring that project requirements align with Client requirements.
  • Liaising with and building relationship with Client HSE Reps and Contractor Safety Reps as required
  • Managing attendance and participation at project HSE meetings, workshops and forums.
  • Maintaining a system for monitoring HSE performance.
  • Developing a site HSE visit programme for both self and for area of responsibility and ensure effective implementation.
  • Ensure environmental aspects / impacts are effectively mitigated within area of responsibility.
  • Delivering HSSE inductions to persons working and visiting the construction area.
  • Promoting workforce involvement in all HSE activities, initiatives and programmes.
  • Identify and establish productive relationships with internal / external stakeholders ensuring their needs are met and project benefit is leveraged.
  • Fulfil all other requirements as stipulated by the Project HSSE Manager.

Skills / Qualifications:

Qualifications:


Essential:


  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
  • Membership of a HSSE related institute i.e. IOSH, MIIRSM, IEMA etc

Desirable:


  • Trained and competent internal auditor
  • RCA accident / investigation training e.g. 5 why / Helix / Taproot
  • Level 4 or 5 HSE or technical qualification such as NEBOSH, NCRQ or NVQ

Knowledge, skills and experience:


  • Over 3 years in a technical role or full time HSE Role in a relevant industry.
  • Experience in EPCm Roles
  • Excellent understanding of CDM requirements including Principal Contractor duties.
  • Familiarisation with relevant legislation and industry codes and standards.
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Effective/competent MS Office Suite User
  • High level of communication skills in both written and spoken format
