Overview:


  • We are currently recruiting for a handson Head of Operations / Operations Manager to work for our client across their energy assets.
  • The role is an interesting opportunity reporting into the COO and is fully responsible for our clients' recycling processes and renewable energy generation.
  • This would suit someone who has hands on experience across Energy from Waste / Energy Recovery Facilities, Anaerobic Digestion and CHP exposure coupled with operational management experience.
  • The role will be involved in overall standardise and improvement the operating practices of our client's business units, as well as continuing to improve their plant performance, staff development and capability to generate class leading facilities.
  • Lead from the front to implement a highperformance operations function, through safety, compliance, plant performance and reporting, and people management.
  • Foster a continuous improvement culture through every aspect of production and renewable energy generation.
  • Lead Health, Safety & Environmental culture, working with EHS Manager to ensure strong level of both strategic and operational engagement and effective risk mitigation and reporting.
  • Optimise plant performance of all capital assets, ensuring highest level of process output vs theoretical capabilities are delivered using a systems management approach and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that there are effective KPI's and transparent and robust performance reporting across the department/business.
  • Have a strong understanding of the legislative framework in which the business operates, working with the EHS and other Mangers to ensure that all operations are compliant, as a minimum, and risk and opportunities are effectively managed through robustand auditable procedures aligned to

14001 & 900- Accountability for the quality of output products; working with Commercial Team as well as direct reports to define standards and deliver protocols.


  • Support in the risk analysis and delivery plan for business development opportunities in line with the Company Growth Strategy.
  • With the team, identify and implement appropriate digital systems which can effectively support in more effectively managing assets to improve uptime and life cycle costs.
  • Work with the COO and other members of the Leadership Team to develop and deliver annual business plans and objectives, aligned with Board expectations. Produce annual operation forecasting report and strategy.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with the Commercial Director and key strategic stakeholders to ensure excellent day to day service delivery and healthy working relationships.
  • Work closely with the Leadership Team in developing business growth projects offering technical support with full accountability for infrastructure delivery.
  • Proactively glean industry and policy developments to ensure the business is 'ahead of the curve' strategically.
  • Ensuring that our client utilises technology advancements to consistently and robustly offer the best economic and environmental solutions to waste.
  • Coaching and Mentoring of Managers to continually develop skills and culture.

Qualifications/Experience:


  • At least 5 years' experience of process plant operation, ideally power generation either EfW, ERF, AD or CHP.
  • HNC/HND in Renewables / Equivalent Industry
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to both motivate and hold the department to account on its objectives and key results, and KPI's.
  • Demonstrable experience in operational and asset management with lean principles and system approach to all aspects of process management.
  • Driven by personal improvement and be proactive in taking every opportunity to develop skills, and knowledge.
