JOB OVERVIEW


To actively contribute to achieving the Centre's aim of high progression targets by providing personal and pastoral support to students at both individual and group levels and managing the student social engagement function.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To be the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) for the Centre.
  • To be the main point of contact with the College Guardians and all other guardians for those under 18s.
  • Monitor attendance for under18s and report as necessary.
  • To provide pastoral support to all students including meeting them as required and following up appropriately.
  • To meet with students regarding welfare and health issues and provide appropriate advice. Maintain notes in Progresso and keep Centre staff informed.
  • Monitor pastoral and academic welfare and ensure students are effectively signposted to the appropriate University services to meet their welfare needs (e.g., Medical Centre, Accommodation, Counselling Services).
  • Ensure student welfare records are kept uptodate and accurate.
  • Student Experience Team in helping students settle in. Take part in Induction week and help with Induction planning, as required.
  • Keep accurate records of all Personal Circumstances (PC) submissions and maintain the PC Log.
  • Complete SEN referrals when necessary and send to relevant members of SG staff.
  • Liaise and refer students to UoA to confirm SEN support that is required.
  • Planned, coordinate and implement suitable activities and events for students and encourage student participation.
  • Organise trips and visits which may require work outside normal working hours.
  • Engage with students regarding sports development activities, assist with setting up clubs, and publicise activities.
  • Foster positive relationships with students and deal with their requests and concerns in a professional and prompt manner.
  • Attend Student Experience Meetings-UoA/cluster/network
  • Communicate with UoA Student Experience Team to build upon relationships with all relevant UoA departments to maintain a smooth operational relationship.
  • Ensure noticeboards are regularly updated.
  • Attend and minute SSLC meetings.
  • Arrange feedback mechanisms (surveys) to measure student satisfaction throughout their period of study, focusing on both academic and nonacademic matters.
  • Coordinate with the Central Marketing Team in promoting the Centre's profile on social media.
  • Provide general advice to students on local and travel information, help with opening bank accounts, issue confirmation letters, ID cards, letter requests, Student cards, complaints etc.
  • Communicate with Link tutors and AUSA to arrange academicbased activities and transition events.
  • Lead the production of the student newsletter.
  • Work as part of the Student Experience Team to support the Centre in the daytoday operation of the International Study Centre.
  • Act as Virtual Internships Champion
  • Act as Job Ready Champion
  • Assist with data entry on spreadsheets and databases.
  • Attend the Personal Circumstances and Academic Impropriety Boards and other relevant meetings which are part of the Centre's quality framework.
  • Support completion of reports for the Centre, as required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a relevant field (Essential).
  • Prevent Duty trained (Desirable) or willing to attend appropriate training.
  • Safeguarding qualification/Training (Desirable) or willingness to attend appropriate training.
  • Welfare experience of working in an Education Environment.
  • Experience of working under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Familiarisation with data and reporting systems.
