We have a vacancy of 1.5 wte band 2 admin posts available.

This is a great time to join University Hospitals of Derby & Burton NHS Foundation Trust. An exciting opportunity has become available for an Administrator to support a large dedicated and experienced Hand Therapy Team. The posts will be part of a small admin team
The admin team is based within the Hand Therapy Office in the Pulvertaft Hand Unit.


The layout of the hand unit was designed to be integrated and self-contained with therapists and nurses and Doctors all working alongside each other in clinics.

This facilitates MDT working.

The therapists see a variety of trauma and elective patients and have very busy caseloads.

The admin team are absolutely integral to the Therapy team and work closely alongside the therapists in managing caseloads and ensuring smooth running of the department.


Undertake general administrative tasks, including:


  • Answering the telephone, dealing with queries, taking telephone messages and relaying them to the appropriate person/people/division where appropriate
  • Receiving, sorting and distributing incoming mail, paper and/or electronic
  • Filing. Paper and/or electronic
  • Photocopying/Scanning
  • Accurate data entry on to Trust databases and systems
  • Assist with Reception duties, dealing with queries facetoface or by telephone, booking in/out patients attending clinics, liaising with staff/patients in a courteous
and professional manner

  • Organise meetings and rooms as necessary, ensuring bookings are communicated effectively. Maintain diary scheduling
  • To be aware when to refer a query/issue onwards for resolution, escalating as necessary
  • Undertake clerical duties in a professional, timely manner, ensuring deadlines are etc, prioritising work and problem solving on a regular basis to achieve the best outcome. Alerts the team of potential workload issues to agree actions and ensure negative outcomes are minimised.
