Our Decarbonisation business provides end-to-end solutions for customers across all sectors to help them design, deliver and optimise initiatives to reach net zero,


As part of this team, the Plan Zero Consulting & Advisory team is focused on the initial stage of a client's decarbonisation journey, supporting them through creation of net zero strategies and pathways, carbon transition plans and with broader sustainability advice.

The team is comprised of consultants and experts in the fields of green energy, the built environment, transport, waste and biodiversity.


The role will be part of the Leadership Team and be focused on driving client relationships and project opportunities across relevant sectors.

You will lead Mitie's Consulting & Advisory activities within these sectors and develop close relationships with the relevant Account Teams.

As a Partner, you will lead a pool of Senior Managers, Consultants and Analysts to support you in scoping and delivering decarbonisation advisory engagement for clients, mostly focused on solutions for the built environment.


The role will report to the Head of Plan Zero Consulting & Advisory and play a key role in driving synergies across the different sectors and functional areas.

You will work closely with Mitie's broader Decarbonisation team, which designs and builds decarbonisation solutions for clients, acting as a lead generator by creating a pipeline of green projects on the back of the consulting engagements


What will you do day to day?
***The Consulting will be responsible for sourcing a pipeline of consulting and advisory opportunities across clients within the relevant sectors, working closely with Mitie Account Teams to penetrate existing customers, as well as developing their own business development pipeline of direct clients and relationships.


You will be expected to sell billable advisory engagements to be delivered by the pool of consulting resource, owning the respective client relationships and ultimately being accountable for outputs and delivery.


This role requires significant experience and deep expertise in sustainability, energy transition and broader decarbonisation solutions, as well as knowledge of how energy and carbon reduction strategies can support net zero plans.

You will be responsible for delivering engagements that results in clear pathways for investment in projects to decarbonise our customer's built environment.


You will be expected to establish a long-term trusted advisor relationships with clients and communicate with business decision makers at all levels to identify needs and requirements.

The role may require managing and mentoring staff within the project delivery teams to aid their personal development. Awareness of health, safety, and sustainability in all aspects of the role is essential.

Typical advice you would be providing clients includes:

  • Educating customers on the implications of having to achieve net zero on their business operations
  • Definition of decarbonisation strategies and pathways to achieve net zero, identifying and scoping a set of initiatives that would be required to accelerate that journey
  • Outlining potential scenarios for decarbonising their built environment, aligned to the client's requirements and criteria
  • Bringing together and collating insight and expertise from the areas of green energy, sustainable transport, waste and biodiversity to support the client's decarbonisation ambitions relating to their built environment
As part of your role, you will be expected to be:

  • Leading the design and delivery of decarbonisation consulting engagements for clients, taking ownership of end-to-end deliverables
  • Leading and managing teams of consultants to deliver projects
