We are excited to advertise 2 Assistant Practitioner Radiography (MRI) posts within the Radiology Department at Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH).

These are ongoing clinical training posts with development and progression at the core.


The role of the Assistant Radiographic Practitioner is to carry out MRI examinations, as required by the department, under the supervision of a Radiographer within a defined scope of practice.


The post holder will participate in a rotational system that involves working across sites over a 7 day week, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays, at the City campus, Queen's Medical Centre, National Centre of Sports and Exercise Medicine (NCSEM) and any other site where NUH has a contract to provide an imaging service.

The hours of the role must be flexible and will include compressed working hours to appreciate and satisfy the needs and demand of the service

There is an opportunity to continue academic study, in order to become a Band 5 Diagnostic Radiographer alongside your core clinical duties and complete the pathway to HCPC registration.

For motivated and caring individuals this is a supported and funded step on the long term career pathway to becoming a Radiographer.

It is supported by the BSc Radiography 'Top Up' Apprenticeship. Academic study will be enrolled at the University of Derby and clinical training at NUH. Study for this apprenticeship is by day release and funding will be supported by the Apprenticeship Levy.

The QSI accredited radiology department employs 650 staff, seeing 500,000 patients per year across the Queen's Medical Centre, City Hospital and NUH Treatment Centre.


Our wide range of regional specialty services cover neurosciences, Nottingham Children's Hospital, an Emergency Department (level 1 Trauma centre), cardiac/thoracic surgery, oncology, renal, urology, and stroke services.

NUH Radiology offer a structured clinical learning environment with direct support from the Preceptorship Clinical Education team.

The department maintains close links with University training providers, the College of Radiographers and NHS England to ensure our education standards meet the kite mark of our external partners.

This Band 4 AP role meet the requirements of the CoR Education and Career framework.
