Description

We are looking for two practical and caring people (x1 full time 37.5 hours and x1 part time 18.75 hours) to join ourOlder People's Inpatient Rehab Teambased at Queen Mary's Hospital, Roehampton.


Patients have a wide range of complex conditions associated with older age including post falls, neurological conditions such as Parkinson's Disease, post operative rehabilitation, dementia, frailty, fractures and other medical problems.

We provide continuing rehabilitation for patients transferred from local acute hospitals before they are discharged home. There may be the opportunity to see patients in their own homes for rehabilitation after discharge.


You will be working closely with the Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Speech and Language Therapists carrying out exercise programmes, practicing personal care and domestic tasks with patients, group activities and home visits in preparation for discharge back into the community.


You will have an allocated caseload of patients and in conjunction with the therapists manage them, progressing their rehabilitation as appropriate.

The role will allow you to work with colleagues in our outpatient day rehab unit on occasion.

Clinical experience of working as a therapy assistant or student in an NHS or caring environment is essential.

There will be a requirement to undertake some administrative duties


Queen Mary's Hospital is a purpose built Community hospital with access to a wide range of on site and community services.

The ward has 42 beds and you will be part of the wider multi-professional ward team including Nurses, Health Care Assistants, Doctors, Dietician and Social Workers.

There are also close working relationships with other Older People's community rehab services.

Personal development is actively encouraged via supervision, annual Personal Development Reviews and in-service training. All our staff are fully supported by the Clinical Team Leader for older people's rehab services


To work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering a rehabilitation service to older people with a variety of conditions.

This involves inpatients, outpatients and patients in their own home.


To manage own caseload of allocated patients, who have previously been assessed by qualified members of staff, adapting and progressing treatment programme.

To work alone and with supervision from therapy staff


To record the treatment provided and the patients' response to this treatment in the relevant treatment record, according to local guidelines.

To be aware of adverse responses and to alert the therapist immediately should any adverse responses be noted

To provide specified administrative/ non clinical support to the qualified therapists within the team.

You may be expected to work across any of St George's sites or other external locations in Wandsworth.
