Responsibilities:


We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, methodical and practical individual to join us at our Vetchberry site as Machining Apprentice.

We are looking for a positive individual with the right work ethic for our business; the willingness to help others, work well with others, and wants to learn new skills - starting with the basics.


We will support you in completing an LEAN Manufacturing Operative Level 2 apprenticeship that will provide you with a general knowledge and awareness of warehousing that will assist in building your career with thyssenkrupp-Materials UK.

Once you have completed the Level 2, you will be given the opportunity to extend your Apprentice Programme through completion to Level 3, dependant on performance.

A Lean Manufacturing Operative will be expected to carry out their work safely and meet the exacting quality standards demanded in a fast paced and efficient processing environment and develop into a multi-skilled operator through process ownership.

A lean manufacturing operative can be required to carry out manufacturing activities on multiple products with different specifications consecutively e.g.

automotive manufacturing - Multi models manufacturing results in the manufacturing of different models of vehicle with different specification variants within a high volume environment.

At the end of the apprentice role you will be a full time Production Operative. You will be skilled to operate overhead cranes, drive forklift trucks and operate machines.


Main duties:
Machine operating
Cutter length, basic tools, banding, hand tools
Measuring Vernier's and micrometers
Quality assurance
6 S's understanding

Your career with us will look like the following (assuming no extensions required):0-12mths learn to operate Cut to length lines
6-12mths Overhead Crane Training
12-24mths learn to operate Traverse lines
12-24mths Forklift Truck Training
24-36mths learn to operate Slitting lines

Profile:


Essential experience, skills and knowledge:
Writing and numeracy (Grade C/4 above)
Vigilant
Attention to detail
Interest in mechanical maintenance
Keen interest of metal machining
PC literate
Self-motivated, reliant, diligent, analytical and numerate
An interest in developing and learning new skills
Interested in a career in Manufactruing


Desirable experience, skills and knowledge:
The ability to use all types of measuring equipment
Mechanical skills
Experience in measuring techniques

- £19,019 per annum start with incremental increases after key milestones are met.

  • 38.5 hours per week.
07:30 - 16:15 Monday to Thursday and 07:30 - 13:00 Friday
