This is an exciting opportunity for a forward looking and enthusiastic respiratory physician to join our team. on a 1 year fixed term contract.

The post holder will be responsible for the continued delivery and further development of an already well-established Respiratory service at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.

The post will be based at the University Hospital Lewisham ( maternity leave cover).

The successful applicant will be part of the current team of 4 respiratory Consultants in UHL sites. The Respiratory Teams include and are supported by 2 specialist registrars and a team of junior doctors.

In addition, there are 5 respiratory specialist nurses, 1 clinical physiologists, a team of TB specialist nurses, a lung cancer MDT coordinator and 1 lung cancer clinical nurse specialist and 1 nodule nurse.


We are looking a person with a sub-specialty interest which would complement our existing establishment which includes TB, Lung Cancer, CF, ILD, COPD and pleural disease.

As well as general Respiratory out-patient clinics, we have sub-specialist clinics a range of areas. There are bronchoscopy sessions at both sites and dedicated pleural clinics.

A formal job plan will be agreed between the appointee and the Clinical Lead, on behalf of the Medical Director, three months after the commencement date of the appointee.

This will be signed by the Chief Executive and will be effective from the commencement date of the appointment. The job plan for the first three months will be based on the provisional timetable shown below.


The Job Plan will be a prospective agreement that sets out a consultant's duties, responsibilities and objectives for the coming year.

It should cover all aspects of a consultant's professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities. It should provide a clear schedule of commitments, both internal and external.

In addition, it should include personal objectives, including details of their link to wider service objectives, and details of the support required by the consultant to fulfill the job plan and the objectives.
