We're looking for an experienced Communications Officer to take a lead role in supporting the Welsh Community Care Information System (WCCIS).

WCCIS enables social care, mental health, community nursing and allied health professionals ensure that quality care and support for individuals, families and communities is more effectively planned, co-ordinated and delivered.

WCCIS is a key digital initiative for Welsh Government and is set out in the 'A Healthier Wales' plan.


The national WCCIS programme team has been established to work with local authorities, health boards and regional partnership boards in Wales, in order to co-ordinate activities and deliverables across a number of workstreams.


You will be a key member of the WCCIS Programme Team, and you will work collaboratively across Wales with Heads of Services, Executive Leads and Welsh Government.

Working within the WCCIS National Programme Team, you will work closely with the programme's Communications Lead, and with the regional and local teams accountable for the transformation and adoption of WCCIS across their sites.

You will help develop communications plans in accordance with the wider programme plan and its projects so that regional local teams are kept informed of progress being made and any impacts on them.

Your will support the National Programme Team's business partnering managers to ensure that effective two-way engagement and comms is in place to enable successful delivery of the WCCIS system.

  • Assist the Communications Lead to ensure the delivery of effective and professional communications and public relations that support the programme
  • Working in conjunction with the Communications Lead to develop, implement and evaluate a communications plan
  • Contribute to the review and development of existing communication strategies and branding
  • Create assets and items to support the business partnering team, wider National Programme Team, and WCCIS programme
  • Review and refine communications systems, channels and messages that enable the WCCIS programme to have effective communication and engagement with its stakeholders
  • Support the Communications Lead and Programme Director with the management of crisis communications
  • Create graphics, or work with the DHCW graphics team, to keep WCCIS live maps and other items up to date
  • Write items for the team's regular messages, bulletins, and newsletter, including conducting and transcribing interviews
  • Create updates on communications and engagement for use in meetings
  • Support the Communications Leads in updating the team's Sharepoint intranet site and in running regular surveys
  • Attend meetings and engage with stakeholders across Wales to ascertain comms needs and work with the Communications Lead and business partnering team to meet these
