We are currently looking for an
Assistant Buyer to join our fantastic Procurement Team based in the Solihull area.

This role is commutable from Birmingham, Selly Oak, Kings Norton, Rubery, Redditch, Warwick, Stratford-upon-Avon, Leamington Spa, Coventry, Worcester, Bromsgrove, Tamworth, Lichfield, Walsall, and the surrounding areas.

This role has the option for Hybrid Working, meaning you can work part of your week at home.

Role Responsibility:


  • Supporting the business with their purchasing requirements, across all categories and all business units nationwide
  • Delivering additional value by understanding the business needs and engaging with suppliers to negotiated preferential terms
  • Providing advice and guidance to the business in line with business buying policies
  • Supporting the category managers and the wider procurement function to identify and/or deliver strategic benefits and compliance to existing procurement contracts
  • Manage and provide all necessary KPI and reporting for the Procurement Team including ensuring suppliers have the appropriate accreditation status and managing the supplier performance reporting
  • Managing workflow approvals for all purchase requisitions
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Acting as a mentor to apprentices within the Procurement Team
  • Driving greater utilisation of Procurement tools such as eProcurement, including eAuctions
  • Supporting the learning and development of the Higher Apprentice
  • Previous experience within an operational procurement environment preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills essential
  • Confident to engage with stakeholders at all levels both verbally and via written communication
  • Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to problem solve
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, able to manage risk and negotiate best value
  • Ability to successfully manage stakeholders at all levels
  • Resilience to challenge in the appropriate manner
  • Excellent time management and the ability to prioritise
  • Strong IT skills including MS Teams, MS Office, Sharepoint
  • SAP experience preferred but other ERP systems accepted
  • Experience in a multisite organisation advantageous
