J Murphy & Sons are looking for an Access & Integration Senior Possession Planner to work on the CP6 NW & Central framework.

As a A&I Senior Planner, you will plan and co-ordinate access to the Network Rail Infrastructure to allow works to take place safely in accordance to Network Rail standards.

What you will be doing

  • Lead for each framework's civils discipline, e.g. CAM, structures, earthworks, etc. to be the initial contact for the Client and Murphy Contracts Managers for all access requirements. Ensure the most efficient access opportunities are sought, working closely with project management team in securing engineering access & resources to programme.
  • Review project scope requirements and schedule planning activities appropriately. Identify possession & isolation availability including implementation through Possession Planning System (PPS) and the Green Zone Access Manager (GZAM) for all project plans.
  • Negotiate Murphy access requirements to meet version '0' of EAS, ensuring resource requirements for delivery are readily available to meet this schedule. Attending Monthly longterm access reviews with the client and cascade potential access opportunities /concerns internally with the Project Teams.
  • Provide support and mentoring to other planners within the team, to aid in their performance & development requirements & reaching their career potential.
  • Alongside the Possession Planner, attend route planning and deconfliction meetings to ensure sufficient planning considerations are made and fully understood by all parties, escalating issues/concerns.
  • Collaborate with Persons in Charge (PICs) and Responsible Managers (RM's) at the earliest opportunities possible to ensure integration and suitable operational knowledge is present to manage the risks in delivery, escalating any concerns where applicable.
  • Where required, in consultation with the Project Manager, isolation services are booked and verified for all project plans, coordinated between Murphy Project Team, isolation provider and PIC/SWL/RM.
  • Assist the production and commercial teams in the securing of key specialised resources and manage through to delivery for all projects, including providing feedback to the project management team and procurement.
  • Liaise with Network Rail Operations and project teams, ensuring collaborative working relationships are maintained.
  • Complete and oversee the distribution of SWPs in accordance with Network Rail standards.
  • Work with the Responsible Manager regarding feedback of their 10% checks of completed SWPs to ensure that planning is sufficient and that the SWP has been completed correctly and lessons learnt.
  • Review all client access documentation issued and identify any changes or errors that would affect the safety and deliverability of the plan.
  • Carry out site visits to ascertain site conditions prior to booking possessions and completion of SWPs, with the exception being emergency and reactive remits.
  • Manage and coordinate whiteboard meetings with the Planner, PIC/SWL/M's & Responsible Managers for any Red RAG'ed possessions. Access reviews from T15w to T1w.
  • Deputise for the Access &Integration Planning Manager when required.
  • Coordinate and participate in the out of office hours on call roster for Rail Access queries and emergency planning requirements for the client.
  • Advise the Access & Integration Planning Manager of any breaches of Murphy procedures and Network Rail standards.
  • Regularly update PDP considering future career paths and development, considering those of their juniors too for succession planning.

Who we are looking for

  • You will have a successful portfolio in rail access planning environment
  • Good knowledge and experience possession planning in the NW & C region
  • Demonstrable experience in a possession & SSOW planning role with excellent understanding of Network Rail Route Planning requirements, both long and short term.
  • Fully conversant with the use of

Network Rail Planning Systems:
PPS, Nrol, GZAC

  • Fully conversant with the use of
use of On-Trac

  • MS package knowledge (e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio, MS Project)
