  • West Yorkshire Police, the lead Force for the Yorkshire and the Humber Regional Scientific Support Services, is looking to recruit a Crime Scene Surveyor to be based at Calder Park, Wakefield.
  • In this role, you will provide a crime scene surveyor and AutoCad plandrawing service to meet the investigative requirements of all four Forces within the Yorkshire and Humber region.
  • This opportunity would suit those with a CAD Technician's background, a solid knowledge of general Surveying principles, AutoCAD drawing production in 2D and ideally 3D, and experience of various survey disciplines and GPS. Ideally, applicants will also have knowledge of Ordnance Survey Mapping as well as an indepth knowledge gained from working in a surveying/drafting environment.
  • To be considered, applicants must be competent in two or more of the following surveying methods:
  • Producing plans, sections or 2D elevations in AutoCAD.
  • Digital map production ideally in a CAD or equivalent G.I.S package.
  • 3D representations using 3D CAD or 3D modelling software.
  • 3D laser scanning or total station surveys.
To ensure efficient crime scene surveying processes, the role requires a flexible approach to working hours.

In addition, applicants must hold a full current UK driving licence and must also be prepared to travel for business purposes.


  • The role is predominantly office based producing maps and plans for court cases, with approximately 20% to 30% of the time spent at scenes collecting measurements and 3D scan data from which plans would be created.
