Our Projects, Infrastructure and Construction (PIC) team at TLT are looking to expand in line with client demand in the future energy sector, and have an opening available for a non-contentious Associate to join our team in London.


This is an excellent opportunity for an experience Construction Solicitor looking for a long-term career move, where they can develop and refine their legal knowledge and skills in a truly innovative sector.


Your Role:


TLT' s Projects, Infrastructure & Construction (PIC) team is a national team, comprising seven partners across four offices supported by a number of fee earners at various levels.

PIC has expertise across a range of sectors including real estate, public sector and energy and undertakes both contentious, non-contentious work.

We are seeking a non-contentious lawyer to join the team and work as part of TLT's Future Energy Team.

The Clean Energy Team is highly regarded in the sector (and for example in April 2021 was ranked in Clean Energy Pipeline's global league tables 2nd for M&A and 10th for project finance deals).


We increasingly operate as a disruptor to other forms in the sector and advise developers, investors and lenders in relation to wind, offshore wind and solar generation as well as adjacent technologies like AD, energy storage, EVCI and heat networks.

The team has also been growing, with recent hires from NRF, CMS, Orrick, AG, Pinsents and Squire Patton Boggs.

As part of the team, you will:

  • Have the opportunity to work for high calibre clients on clean energy projects at the leading edge of the market. complex contractual issues
  • Be encouraged to develop the business by building relationships with new clients and existing clients of the firm
  • Also be encouraged to lead your own projects, with support being available as needed

Your Skills and Experience:


To be considered for this role, it is essential that you have experience in non-contentious construction, with prior experience working with clients in the clean/future energy sector.


You will ideally have a minimum of 2 years of post-qualified experience, however we will consider applicants at NQ level+, provided that you have the relevant experience working with clean energy clients in your non-contentious construction seat, or as paralegal experience prior to qualification.

Experience of project documents (grid, offtake etc.) is not essential but certainly a plus.


You will be/have:

  • A Qualified Solicitor (SRA or Law Society Registered)
  • Experience of JCT and NEC and potentially FIDIC, MF/1 and other industry forms
  • A forward thinker, with excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills, you will be selfmotivated with the ability to manage workloads and deadlines
  • Commercially aware with enthusiasm for business development, and an appetite for keeping uptodate with the latest developments in your practice area and sector focus
  • Able to understand your client's business needs, and act in the best interest of the firm and the client
  • Ambitious and enthusiastic team player, able to support senior fee earners and contribute to our collaborative culture

Your Team:


Our Projects, Infrastructure & Construction team have extensive experience in development and transactional construction projects, as well as expertise in dispute management and resolution.

We have a significant record of advising UK infrastructure projects, in particular in the clean energy and transport sectors including on high value complex disputes.


We work with corporate clients of all sizes - global manufacturers and retailers, major national and regional builders, and commercial land developers are regular clients.

We also work with registered housing associations and public bodies including local authorities, police forces and other governmental departments and agencies.
