Description

1.Communication Communicate with wide variety of staff including radiographers in both treatment and pre-treatment, medical staff, ward staff, medical records staff and CReST team.

Communication with patients and carers which may include help, advice and support concerning the radiotherapy process and information received at a review clinic.

Analytical and Judgement Skills Ensure that if a patient or carer relays information that requires action by a health professional that this information is relayed to the correct individual or team in order for appropriate action to be taken.

Planning and Organisational Skills Efficiently deal with clerical and clinical duties Plan own work to ensure tasks are prioritised effectively Physical Skills Standard keyboard skills are needed to operate the various computer systems used with the department.


Responsibility for Patient and Client Care Act as a chaperone to patients during examinations and other clinical procedure, provide them with relevant information and support as needed.

Assist patients with dressing / undressing and toileting.

Under the supervision of a clinician provide patients with prescribed medication and ensure that the patient understands all instructions given.

Provide patient with non-clinical information and support.


Responsibility for Policy and Service Development Adhere to all Trust policies and procedures Responsibility for Financial and Physical Resources Perform daily checks on all emergency / resuscitation equipment ensuring all items are fit for use or replaced.

Responsible for the maintenance of stock levels including items from pharmacy. Responsible for the equipment used for the examination of patients in the clinic areas.

Responsible for safe and effective use of equipment within the department Reports any faults with equipment to the appropriate team Responsibility for Human Resources Demonstrates own work to trainee support workers and student radiographers assigned to work area.

Responsibility for Information Resources Retrieve any documentation needed for the review clinic. Use Meditech/ARIA to retrieve / input relevant data. Responsibility for Research and Development None Freedom to Act Responsible for their own actions. Limited freedom to act Physical Effort Manual handling of patient, equipment and case notes.

Unpacking and storing stock items. Mental Effort Concentration when chaperoning patients during clinic review.14. Emotional Effort Dealing with cancer patients and their carers.
