Service Care Solutions are looking for an Application Service & Support Analyst to work within the Gloucestershire Constabulary on a 6-month contract.

Waterwells Police HQ


Job role/responsibility:


  • To support existing services to meet or exceed agreed service levels.
  • Installation and configuration of client software to meet business requirements.
  • Working as part of a small team you will be expected to share knowledge and learn from others to provide resilience in key areas.
  • To contribute towards scheduling and the execution of releases of software.
  • Create and maintain support documentation, enabling resilience and knowledge transfer within the team.

Main duties:


  • Receives and logs requests for support from help desk, other service delivery staff and/or users. Prioritises requests in accordance with agreed criteria.
  • Within own area of competence, and following agreed procedures, investigates issues and other requests for support and determines appropriate actions to take.
  • Within own area of competence, provides correct responses to requests for support by means of for example: making modifications to system parameters, developing workarounds or sitespecific enhancements, reconfiguring systems, changing operating procedures,training users or operations staff, producing additional documentation, or escalating requests to systems development staff or software suppliers.
  • Monitors progress of requests for support and ensures users and other interested parties are kept informed.
  • Liaises with systems development staff or software suppliers on the development of system enhancements to overcome known problems or further fulfil user requirements.
  • Carries out all routine tasks associated with operating and controlling the installed hardware and software. This may include multiple hardware or software platforms. Uses standard procedures and tools to carry out defined system backups, restoring datawhere necessary.
  • Carries out required monitoring, logging, and reporting tasks.
  • Accepts data, media, consumables, and other items required for the processing of work and takes responsibility for the movement, storage and dispatch of such items as are required, and for other routine functions associated with data management.
  • Investigates, diagnoses, and resolves low impact network problems within service level agreement tolerances, referring to network users, other staff, and suppliers, as necessary.
  • Matches unresolved incidents against existing problems, known errors and other incidents.
